Volunteer with us! We need your help to continue telling the story of the Ridge family and the history of the Cherokee people in Georgia.

Volunteer Opportunities at Chieftains:

• Docents

• Docents will present tour information pertaining to the history of Ridge Family and the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home to museum patrons and visiting groups .

• Greeters/Gift Shop attendants

  • Greeters/Gift Shop Attendants will welcome museum visitors to the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge as well as provide help processing museum admissions and operating the gift shop.

• Digital Collections Volunteer

  • The Digital Collections Volunteer will assist in administering the museum’s digital collections initiatives through providing digitization and digital assets management of resource items (manuscripts, books, photographs, artifacts, etc).

• Education and Programming Volunteer

  • The Education Intern will assist the museum’s staff in planning and implementing programming and curriculum for field trips and exhibits.

• Free admission to the museum for the volunteer plus one guest.

• 10% discount in museum store.

• After 25 volunteer hours, receive a $25 gift card to museum store.

Benefits are valid during tenure of volunteer work.

No experience is necessary to become a volunteer. We will train you. We ask volunteers to work one 3-hour shift a month. If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer, or for more information, call the museum for details.
