Irina Garner, Chief Vann House Georgia State Historic Site.
Irina serves as the Assistant Manager of the Vann House, and her responsibilities range from event coordination to historical interpretation, the writing of historic panels and tours to educate field trips and park visitors. She facilitates the sites positive relationship with groups from the Cherokee Nation Eastern and Western Bands and works to preserve the site’s unique history through house and grounds restoration projects, trail expansions, native gardens, endangered plant restoration projects. Her goals include expanding the lesser understood historical themes of the site such as enslavement and the causes and long-term impacts of the 19th century Indian Removal Act.
