Help Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home keep our mission growing in 2024!

The past year has been a time of growth and impact for Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home. And it’s all thanks to the support of our incredible community (that’s you!).

In 2023, we were able to:

  • Reach 500 students from our community

  • Renovate and reopen the Grizzard Center for Cherokee Studies

  • Launch the 2023-2024 Jody Selman Chieftains Museum Lecture Series

  • Begin preservation work on the interior of the museum

This time of year is critical for nonprofits, and we’re asking for our community to step up once more, so we can build on this momentum in 2024. Will you help us?

You can make a donation of any amount below. Checks can be made out to Friends of Chieftains and mailed to PO Box 373, Rome, GA 30162.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 before the end of the year. Your donation will ensure that we can continue to be a historical resource in our community.

Thank you for standing up for preserving and interpreting the history of the 19th century Cherokee through the life, home and property of the Ridge family!

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home Artifact Donation Policy

Over the years, Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home has acquired a large collection through public donations. If you own an object that is part of the Ridge family history or Cherokee history in North Georgia and you would be interested in sharing it - not only at the present time, but for generations to come - the museum would like to hear from you.

Before bringing your object to the museum, please read our donation policy by clicking the button below. Because of the museum’s specific mission and limited resources, the museum can only accept those artifacts that meet the criteria listed in the donation policy.

For questions or to schedule an appointment to discuss an artifact, contact the museum at 762-327-6124 or director@chieftainsmuseum.org.
