Date(s) – Oct 15 2015 until Oct 17 2015 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
From October 15-17, the museum will become a part of “Going Caching 2015: A Roman Renaissance.” One of the largest geocaching events in the country, the “Roman Renaissance” will bring hundreds of people to our community to participate in a geocaching quest with a medieval theme. Chieftains will serve as one location for people to complete their quest by touring the museum and completing an activity.
Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home is a National Historic Landmark and one of only a few private entities to be certified by the National Park Service as a site on the Trail of Tears. Major Ridge, whose old home Chieftains now occupies, was one of the signers of the Treaty of New Echota, which resulted in the forced relocation of the Cherokee people.
