Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home will host a tea on November 29 from 3 until 5 p.m. in recognition of members of the 1969 Junior Service League of Rome. Those League members made the decision to save this National Historic Landmark and preserve the home for future generations. It is with great honor and pride that we acknowledge this group of women whose foresight was instrumental in making this happen.

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home is a National Historic Landmark and one of only a few private entities to be certified by the National Park Service as a site on the Trail of Tears. Major Ridge, whose old home Chieftains now occupies, was one of the signers of the Treaty of New Echota, which resulted in the forced relocation of the Cherokee people.
